If you saw this on a menu - 'Freshly filled Ciabatta’s served with a mixed Salad garnish & a small portion of Chip Shop Chips' - would you expect a whole ciabatta or half a ciabatta.

It was obviously just half a ciabatta - only had one rounded end and one cut end. They were £4.75 so I was defiantly expecting a whole one, it wasn't a posh pub or anything.
In that case I would have complained, sherr. Misleading menu imo.
2" !!! even my 3 yr old Grandson would have been looking under the table - rip off.
To be honest, I wouldn't expect much at all....its bread, salad and chips !
i can see how you might be unfulfilled with 2 inches ...

There's a old saying Mikey - If you don't expect much then you will rarely be disappointed. :-
To be honest I am getting fed up with so-called posh food giving bad value.
I had lunch at Dyffryn Gardens recently, a National Trust place in the Vale of Glamorgan. Wonderful gardens but I wasn't impressed with the cafe at all. When I am out I normally have a Ploughmans Lunch, as I don't want anything too heavy. But at Dyffryn it was basically a big plate almost covered in posh leaves, with a small piece of indifferent cheese and a bread roll, and it was nearly £8.00 ! There must have been less that £1.50's worth of food on that plate ! But proper Twinings tea, in a pot.
