I have been working as a relief cleaner at a small village school. Today was the last day of term, the teachers were showing each other their end of term gifts from the children (or rather parents)
One teacher had 12 bottles of good quality wine , one bottle of champagne, one bottle of Remy Martin brandy and other gifts of luxury chocolate and food, this from a class with just 22 children.
Is this the 'norm' now ? It seems over the top to me.

I was making this very point last week. It's the done thing these days, but why? Aren't teachers just doing their job for goodness sake?
Could explain all the fat teachers going about.
Defo OTT IMO.
I gave #1's Nursery teachers a wee box of Celebrations, but some parents go way over the top.

What's next? A car? Villa in France??
This is just another yucky American idea, same as the dreadful Prom, kids dressing up like 40 year olds and sending them off in a Stretchmobile. Expensive and unnecessary. I hope someone with some sense calls a halt to it, some parents cannot compete with that sort of thing.
I posted about this last week. It's not that new a thing as himself got gifts at the end of the year from when he started primary teaching 23 years ago (and he worked in non affluent areas). I/the kids gave one box of £5 chocolates to the whole of the staff in their class (seemed a lot because of the number of sprogs that I have) and thing 2 gave his teaching assistant a gift (some small plants in a planter from Tesco) because she goes over and beyond and has seriously changed his life.
its a piece of nonsense, and I wonder why the teachers don't tell the children not to do it? a home made card yes. wine flowers chocolates no.
Inch by inch I'm giving my soul away to Answerbank.......
I have one teacher (from junior school) that I'd like to give a present to and it consists of an arrest warrant for indecent behavior with a f****g small schoolboy who knew no better at the time.
This will be deleted soon, no doubt, but I'd like to give that particular teacher a sexual transmitted painful death. Hope he dies screaming in pain.
Perhaps he already has.
No apple for him, not from me anyway.
nailit. report your concerns to police,
might as well try knit fog anneasquith.
Had enough dealings with the police myself to know how the 'law' works
