1a is a long one (3,8,6,6,7,2,11,4) and think anagram from beginning of clue which is.... Travel North to Edinburgh, Scotland, seeking work: redden with excitement finding this 24 there

(haven't done 24 either). It distresses me that some people can see the answers so quickly.

6D was the way I got 1A - had 3-4 letters in 6D, put them into a website called onelook.com which came up with Duddingston - followed its link to Duddingston which mentioned the painting and artist. Done.

Today's AZED is a bit of a battle!

Have just seen Dzug's post and for what it is worth MaiMai i went about solving it the more old fashioned way. Once i had got 24a I recalled that we had prints of Sir Henry Raeburn. I then checked that the painting involved matched Araucaria's quite marvellous anagram.

I did it more simply still - I guessed loch as I had ?0?h and there did seem to be a scottish theme so loch seemed likely. This led me to Duddingston loch as that is in Edinburgh and then the rest was googled. Raeburn I then got! Isn't it interesting how we all go about these things differently!
