Paedophiles

I apologise in advance if this seems in any way like a tasteless question, but it is meant as a serious point and is something I have wondered about for a while. We are all aware of relatively rare but well documented cases like Myra Hindley and other incidents where women have been involved in murdering children or neglecting them to the point where the child dies. Often in cases of neglect or physical abuse, the woman is jointly involved with a male partner. However, are there cases of women being prosecuted for being paedophiles - for sexually abusing children? Anything we hear on the news always seems to involve men. I'd be very interested in any information or feedback from other members on this issue.

from what I remember of evidence given during her trial, Rose West was implicated in instances of child sex abuse by some of the survivors of that evil pair. Also, there was that grotesque thing that, along with her vile boyfriend, raped the 11mnth old baby. I'm not sure whether these sexual abuses were carried out under duress on the womans part (ie coerced by partner) or if they were willing participants.

Bonzo 2000, like you I have often thought of that too. But I put it down to the fact that women are the ones carrying children and have more of a motherly role in life to do horrible stuff like that. - Maybe I'm wrong.

there has been a case in the midlands lately regarding a woman and her boyfriend raping a tiny baby, although it is very rare women can also be paedophiles it just seems harder to get your head round when its a woman but it does happen.

i know of one but unfortunatly i am unable to give details due to the seriousness of the case but it was extremly hard going to work. It was here daughter too

Its a damn shame that it should happen at all,whatever is going on in these peoples minds,i always thought a woman would be protective(cant think of another word at mo)of a child,its unbelievable.

There are definitely cases, they are just not so common - I once knew a girl who was abused by her mother and she could not speak of it until her death .. maybe it is even more taboo than the male of the family ...
