Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg said that the UN should now declare that the use of military force by the international community was justified in order to protect the people of Zimbabwe.

Yes I do agree.

But the time to have done so was soon after 1980 when it was quickly apparent that Mugabe had succeeded in his aim of transforming Zimbabwe into a one party Marxist State.

Of course it was not then, and still is not now, politically expedient to pour scorn on a black African nation which had succeeded in driving out the white man. Other African states have continually supported the Mugabe regime and even following this year�s preposterous manipulated elections neighbouring countries still did not denounce Mugabe.

Zimbabwe wanted rid of whites from its affairs. That is now done so they and the other neighbouring countries who lent Mugabe support will have to get on with it.

It�s a pity for the general population who simply want to earn enough money to enable them to eat. But there you go.

I think the one country that shouldn't take practical action is us, the former colonial power. It just gives the likes of Mugabe more ammo to blame us for his problems.

Anyway, there are hundreds of countries in the world, so why do we always seem to be at the forefront in this sort of thing?

I agree with New Judge. The horse has well and truly bolted whilst the important people in this issue are the other, surrounding African states. Up until this present and latest catastrophe to hit the people of Zimbabwe they have supported Mugabe and therefore made it politically impossible for us or any other Country to go in and do the necessary i.e. remove Mugabe and install a democratic government and help them come into the real world.

They well and truly made their bed - so lie in it.

Dont forgot the white farmers who were murdered for their farms and land by these Zimbabweans. The Zimbabweean practised genocide, they suceeded and now have their land.

Britain would not let the white farmers immigrate here and left them to their fate. Yet Britain offered immigration to Kenyan asians threatened with genocide under Idi Amin.

If europeans interfere in Zimbabwe it will be seen as colonialisation.

Eventually when the impact on the surrounding countries (and mainly on South Africa) becomes too great they will have to get off their backsides and do something through the African Union. That is what it was supposed to be set up to do - empowerment for the countries of the African continent. Until then, more misery for the majority of the poor people living there.
