Does it matter? Does anyone care?
 Tony Blair, October 1994
It just defeats me - I get a feeling of hopelessness. Our country is run by liars, hypocrites, thieves, fools, perverts and degenerates, but there is no alternative. I know that it has been like this for centuries, but does anyone else feel that the current system must change? Soon the very notion we live in a civilised democracy will become genuinely farcical. What can we do?

By giving the proletariat five seconds' worth of action every 1800-or-so days, you give them the impression that they somehow have a say in the running of the country.
Meanwhile, as the Western ' Coalition' attempt to force democracy on a Middle Easten nation -because it's the "right thing to do" - you may start to realise that there is no "one size fits all" system of government.
And judging by the opinions expressed in "letters" pages in newspapers, half the voters have a pretty poor understanding of how 'the system' works, blaming Blair (substitute Thatcher / Major / or the Next Incumbent) for anything from the weather to the way the Civil Service works.
