Why do they do it?

can anyone explain to me, when talking to a dog, why do they put their head on one side as if they are listening intently. Are they really interested in what you are saying or is it something else. quite funny if you tilt your head in the opposite direction, how they tilt theirs to the other side too.

Yes, I often think to myself sometime that they understand every word we say. Mine is very quick to pick up on words like walkies, buiscuit, or do you want togo outside? those words he really dose understand
Yeh,they're really cute when they do that.I think they're concentrating....cos I know I put my head to one side sometimes when I'm trying to concentrate! Btw...take it you're a Smith and Jones fan then??
