Only if you also use an external amplifier
Put simply if your home hi-fi unit has phono input connectors, you can buy for a stereo mini-jack to phono cable for a couple of quid, and you should have no problem.

yup as said as long as you have powered speakers and a spare line in then you can plug the ipod in with cable mentioned - so much easier than trawling through the disc to find the music you want.

Apple do sell the relevant cable in the white look matching the ipod - but thats all your getting and it costs about 10 QUID... so just go get the same thing from your maplins etc and its should be about 3.

I have plugged my mp3 player into my HiFi, using it's headphone output. Plug in another jack into the mp3 headphone socket with a cable that has two Phono plugs (red and white) at the other end. These phono plugs go into the AUX. input of my amplifier. I turn on my mp3 player and set it's volume to about half way, I then switch my amplifier from it's CD or radio position to it's AUX. position(auxillary), and then adjust the amplifier's volume. Getting the mp3 player and amplifier volume correct is a matter of trial and error. My first hook up I had the mp3 volume too low and had turned the amplifier up to a reasonable level or so I thought, but when I switched the amp back to radio it nearly deafened me.

I made the cables up, it is easy 1 stereo headphone jack and two phono plugs. I used screened cable with two thin wires in it.These red and white wires are for the left right stereo signal.
