Vaughn Williams loved the English countryside and the music is evocative of his rural ramblings. I believe the music had its debut in Gloucester Cathedral in circa 1910. Thomas Tallis was a 15th/16th composer. As a keen rambler myself, listening to it reminds me of my walks in the countryside.
