best software?

can anyone advise me which they think is the best software for transferring from (tape) handycam (dcr-hc24e) to burn from the computor onto a dvd disc? any help appreciated,thanks.

Look at Premier Elements 2, Serif Movie Plus 4 or DVD Movie Factory 4 (among others). Pinnacle Studio might suit you but it is prone to crashing.

thanks wideboy, have got pinnacle studio & am having loads of problems with it, (won't let me open my photoexplosion deluxe) thanks for answering, i'm grateful for any help.

Re-install photoexplosion after studio if you can - otherwise ditch studio.

PS. Have you checked Pinnacle's website for patches/upgrades - there usually are some (might be large downloads).

am now going to re-install as you suggested & check pinnacles website, am also looking at the other options on their websites that you gave me (hope you don't mind if i get back to you later or tomorrow,if need be!) thanks for helping me out, you're a star.

yeah...pinnacle is simple to use and I'd suggest it aswell...good luck!!

Have you tried Windows's own Movie Maker (preferably version 2). It won't record to DVD but you could edit with it and then find other software to record the DVD (or even import the edited footage into Pinnacle ready for recording to DVD.
