I rely on 'me' shaney. I was just interested to read his view of thyroidectomy & the 'chances' of success & failure depending on the expertise of the surgeon at the time x

Obviously as in your mums case where there's obstruction, thyroidectomy is inevitable.

Elina........(sqad hangs his head in shame).....I may have mislead you..........I wandered onto the internet which i very rarely do.

I lead you to believe that hypothyroidism following partial thyroidectomy was unusual.....well look at this study from Holland.

83% of patients need to go on thyroxine following surgery for hyperthyroidism....and that has surprised sqad.
