Absoultely fabulous lobster, until the greasy b'stards cooked it and ruined the flavour completely. The wife's spaghetti on toast was rubbish too!

Thanks lowig, we won't go there then. Perhaps I should have asked where not to go, instead of where to go ! I might get more answers ! Why can't I find a decent restaurant for lunch or evening, with decent prices, for a good English or Italian meal, where I will not be ripped off? I am sure I will open a can of worms here. .....

Il Cappriccio, High St. Ewell Village does a good three coures menu. Not sure what the lunch price is but it is less than the evening one which is 14.95 It is quite a hefty meal though - is this what you had in mind, or something lighter?

A new resataurant has just opened in Epsom called Lime - a caribbean twist, excellent food and service. Not sure if they do lunch food though. It is refreshing to have a restaurant which is not part of a chain these days

Funnily enough Alibobs I tried to book Il Cappriccio but they are closed Saturday lunchtime ! We tried to get into The Albany in Thames Ditton , it used to be Fox on the River, for lunch today Saturday, but would you believe it, it was fully booked ! So that sounds good, if it is fully booked Saturday lunchtime it is worth booking for an evening. Watch this space ..
hi judie, Blue Beckers in Hampton Court, nxt to the bridge and Red Peppers Esher High Street on the left going away from Kingston. both are rather nice for lunch....
Question Author
Haven't tried Blue Beckers in Hampton Court although have been to the one in Shepperton years ago. I often go to Red Peppers, also The Albert Pub, on the other side to Red Peppers further down, in the slipway, on the corner by the dry cleaners (!) is very very good for food even tho it is a pub, and its a bit pricey but you get loads, don't order a starter ! Just fancied somewhere different for a change this time.
Topio Gigio on the Ewell by pass is of the same ilk as Il Cappriccio, not such nice surroundings though. They have a sister restaurant in Surbiton whose name escapes me, definitely Italian thoughA Roma in Ewell Village also is similar but more expensive
Question Author
Alibobs, is it The Italian Taste in Surbiton opposite Sainsburys? That's meant to be quite good so I've heard.

Don't recognise this name Judie

It's come to me! Sorrentos, it's towards Tolworth on the left hand side. I have not been there personally but know lots who have, noisy typically Italian, good value, better for groups than an intimate dinner for two
Question Author
Yes Alibobs, I know, thats Tolworth, it has been there for years, gets very busy and yes good value for money but the menu doesn't change and the place seems very 'tired' now. Every time I think of Sorrento I think of bobby beans in Tempura (batter) ...
