I think it could be an interesting debate. I have always had respect for Darling despite him being a bit of a lefty.
I still hope Salmond wins though, so both Scotland and the UK can put this to bed and both get on with our lives.
If Scotland really is richer than the UK then we should see a sharp reduction in our EU contributions !

Darling used to be one of our supported MPs when I was in the Telephone Engineers Union and I met him once or twice. I am not sure if he is a strong enough character to combat Salmond's music hall act though.
The onus is on Salmond to prove his case. I don't think that the YES camp have made a good enough case for independence yet. And the Polls would appear to agree. Not long to go now though, as the vote is in a few weeks.
