Sugar Alternatives

I am trying to loose a bit of beef (or at least not put any more on) as I'm at least a couple of stone overweight. The problem is my sweet tooth. For some weeks ive been using honey on my breakfast cereal instead of sugar but a bit of research, here for instance http:// www.fit day.com /fitnes s-artic les/nut rition/ healthy -eating /food-m yths-de bunked- honey-i s-bette r-than- white-s ugar-be cause-i t-is-na tural.h tml#b suggests that its no better.
Also ive been eating more fruit than I used to (about 3-4 portions a day) and then im reading that fruit is high in sugar and may contribute toward weight gain.Researching on the internet can drive you bonkers with conflicting articles so can anyone share with me any experiences with using sugar alternatives for weight loss.
Many thanks.

It is not forever, just for 2-3 weeks to see how you react. I found it amazing- it completely cleared my sinuses (I had a hanky clutched in my hand constantly as a child), improved my asthma and colitis, and skin, hair and nails. It made me realise how much crap I was eating and that things like dairy and gluten did me no favours. I still go back to it when I feel like food is making me ill again. You could do it for 2 weeks and see if it breaks your craving for sugar? I reckon you'd never look back!
Several years on I did the York test to finally find out which foods I should be eating. Predictably gluten, wheat, dairy were the main culprits so yes I don't eat them now, and feel much worse if I do. I eat meat - chicken and fish- and most veg and rice. I also feel tons better if I fast- adf. But I do have a lot of health problems !
