The buzzards seem to be calling constantly from dawn to dusk, I've never known them be so vocal.

Is it possible they have young either in the nest of fledging? Would that cause them to be more vocal?

I'll keep my eyes open. I do see a lot of buzzards scooting past the windows or circling in the air, usually in pairs. Hope I see a youngster though my guess is he'll be as big as the parents.

Thanks for the reply :)
I've heard some calling in my neck of the woods recently and wondered what it was all about, never heard them like this before.

There are three young jay in my garden, too. Shy they're not, very comical though.
I haven't seen a jay in ages, used to see them in the local park. Three in your garden, how lucky are you ........

Depends on your point of view, really, viv. They do eat nestlings of other birds and what with the buzzards and sparrowhawks in the area it's a surprise there any other birds left.

I know, but sadly it's 'nature' isn't it. I wonder sometimes how all the other birds survive. I think jays are very striking birds.

Very striking. I was lucky enough to see a hoopoe in Devon once. :)

Just wish all the brown birds were as easy to identify :D
