Help ! new car buying

Hello I'm a newbie here.

I've got up to �10k to buy a new car and want something up to 12 months old with up to a 1.6 engine. I drive an MG ZR 1.4, and I love it's looks but not the performance. I want something about the same size as the MG - nothing fast, just something reliable with good looks, decent fuel economy and decent kit inside. I'm a 28 year old female driver with 4 years no claims. Hope some of you might be able to help.

If you like your MG so much why not trade it in for the 1.8 version? I know you said up to 1.6, but its not far over that, and the 20BHP version is still only a group 10 insurance and does 39 mpg.

Shoule be able to pick up a very tidy Golf TDI for that sort of money..... Great to drive, good performance and handling, excellent resale values.... and I work for Vauxhall!

What about a Ford Focus ? I just see them having an old-fashioned 'middle of the road' image, not exactly any street cred.
