Busy Week Over
26 Answers
It really has been a busy week (several times I thought my head would explode). I went on the DAFNE course at ERI for my diabetes...I thought it was going to be really boring and just teach me things that I already knew. BUT it was such an eye opener. I now understand fully how difficult it was for Nungate having to weigh out all my food as a tot. Admittedly times have changed but the principle is the same. I have had a few curve balls thrown my way though but I guess now is as good a time as any to learn how to deal with these things when your on antibiotics (yes....my toes...toes NOT toe) but I see it as a good thing.
Challenge starts tomorrow....going out for the day on my own and having do put it all into practice...wish me luck!

You may remember a bit of a conversation we had about it when I told you my youngest son (32) who was diagnosed at ten years old, did the course and reckons everyone with type one would benefit hugely from doing it. And he was much like you before..very sceptical, thought he already knew it all, expected to be bored rigid.
Well done you :o) xx

Morning Ethandron I do remember the conversation. I will admit I was very sceptical about it at first as I had already done the Reclaim course and looking back my circumstances were different I just didn't have time to sit and work out my meals where as now I do have that time to do these things. There is a few things I struggle with already but I don't think my body has cottoned on to what's happening but also having an infection doesn't make it easier but I am fairly confident I will manage to succeed with what I've learnt. It's a lol to take in at first but I guess it's a situation where it will all come together in time. I already told a friend who is a diabetic who said I don't believe in all this rubbish that he should give it ago purely because you will take less insulin and you'll feel tonnes better. He changed his time. But thank you and I'm set for my day out got my quick acting CP in my bag my book and my bits here goes :) x
I'm sure you'll get your head round it all pretty quickly Queenie, and it'll become second nature.
From what my son has told me its actually made life easier and freer for him, more normal. He doesn't have to bother about snacks in between meals any more for instance.
Hope you have a lovely day :) xx

Thank you Lady J
I will at the moment I'm still playing the learning game but it will become second nature. I do snack now and again but I now find it easier because I know what I can have without an injection and it does make things a lt easier :) I will try I thought I'd never make it to Kirkcaldy due to signal issues but they have been solved :)
