//I wonder why no cure has been found for depression, //
Some organs have only one function and we know its inner working to the point of having machine analogues for them (eg kidney dialysis etc). The brain is so complex that we're only beginning to understand it and treat the conditions when it goes wrong.
//is anyone even looking for one//
Of course. Anti-depressant medications based on discoveries about brain chemistry have been on the market for around 50 years. Modern ones don't have the dependency side effects of the earlier ones. Development continues, in search of fewer of the milder side effects.
There have been folk remedies for a lot longer, of course but some controversy surrounds one particular herbal remedy which I don't want to snarl up this thread with.

Has anyone seen 'The Fisher King' which Robin starred in? One of my favourite films and perhaps the story line was closer to reality for him than I first thought.
If you've not seen it, it is a must see........
I always found him 'self absorbed' which I didn't like, however, he was an excellent actor. RIP.

I adored him in Mork & Mindy. It was clear that he was improvising and riffing parts that were not scripted - a lot of that was lines that would only appeeal to, and be understood by adults watching, such as his (perfect) impression of Jack Nicholson.
Another example of that razor-sharp improv. skill was when he was given a line about how could an alien come to earth, to which his response was "How could an actor become President?"
I found his films mixed, but he was always varied, and pitched his acting to fit in with the roles he played.
I think his loss, like any loss to suicide, is a tragedy.
