If I 'lose' my other half on a cruise, (no quips please) and our mobiles cant get a network, any ideas for something small we can use ? Walkie talkie ?

One poster makes an interesting point about the channels from other users being crowded. You can get wrist walkie talkies but you need to check the wrist size (they are for kids) and the range.

Depending on the cruise itinerary, you'll find that many of today's ships skirt the coastal areas. You 'could' simply use your mobile, hoping you have a signal for sending a text...which still could cost you circa 30 pence each time you send one...(and often they can take many hours to reach due to exchanges inward/outward internationally. However, in my own experience, I've always established a rendezvous point...usually the library on the ship (due to the fewest number of people being there) and agreed to meet up. Again, it depends on the ship and itinerary. However, generally, you won't find it too awkward once you've both familiarised yourselves with the ship's deckplan. Bon Voyage!
