Power Saw

Can anyone recommend a power saw that I can use without coming into any danger. A small thing suitable for a lady?

If the depth of cut of a jigsaw is less than th thickness of the wood you wish to cut then when the blade hits the wood at the bottom of it's cut it will vibrate and possibly jump out of your hand. A panel saw would be your best option and would be just as quick by the time you have got your power saw set up and you have learnt how to use it. (more versatile too)

I use a Black and Decker powered handsaw which might suit you. I used it to chop up a three piece suite so I could get it out the front door.

Requires more muscle too jopmifl, but you are correct than one needs to ensure the blade is long enough to go all the way through at both ends of the stroke, although working your way around from all sides can minimise such issues.

Yes getting a man in for a pint is a distinct possibility. But give the pint AFTERWARDS.

If you have taken all the screws out then get the hammer and knock the joints apart. There will be small wooden pins (dowels) holding it together, possibly with glue on them, a sharp tap or two with a hammer should break the joints apart. You really should not need to saw this .

I like to look of that Scorpion, carrot. Thanks for that link. We have made a bit of progress today. You would not believe how many staples there are holding the upholstery on the frame!

All done and dusted. Now, all we need to do is take it to the tip. What a difference it has made to the room. I am so glad it's gone. No power tools used. Mind you, my right arm is aching and my wrist is very sore. Sawing wood is not an easy task, is it? Especially when you are not used to it.

Is Mr Tilly not able, is that why you have to soldier on with DIY type tasks.

My house is upside down, can't wait for it to be a home again.....I hate disruption to the household.

Yes Tilly, sawing can be hard work if your not used to it.

I hate any kind of work being done in the house. I can't bare it when people are banging and knocking! The worst experience was having the kitchen done. There were no problems but it caused so much disruption. Agggh!
