I've been invited to the Battle Prom at Ragley by someone I like and want ideas for a nice posh picnic please including wine / champagne. It's only for two people so it can be as varied as you like, both happy meat and fish eaters, no allergies as far as I'm aware. Thanx in advanx lol :)

We saw the battle proms at Hatfield house a couple of years ago, they were truly magnificent...and very, very wet :( Whatever you decide to take in terms of food, I'd highly recommend a couple of large brollies and a waterproof. Thanks TWR, that's very sweet of you and actually I agree wholeheartedly no-one is any better or worse than anyone else, but he will be used to good food and drink I suspect, which is probably what I meant but put it badly xxx

I know, I'm actually super excited about this. I live in the backside of no-where so not much exciting happens around here plus it was very unexpected so a nice surprise:)
some individual cans of gin and tonic?
Langoustine lollies (langoustines pushed lengthways onto cocktail sticks) with a little tub of mayonnaise to dip them into. Scrummy.

Whatever you decide to take in terms of food, I'd highly recommend a couple of large brollies and a waterproof. We also took a couple of small, lightweight folding stools which were invaluable as it saved us sitting on the wet grass, the waterproof backed picnic rug was no match for the torrential rain.
It was a great evening though and only slightly dampened by the weather, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.

Langoustine lollies sound great and I'll have to think about the drinks aspect once I'e decided what I'm taking food wise.

Ethanron, glad you enjoyed it, I hope the weather stays nice for us but good advice about the rain etc :)

Thank you all so much, I've been cooking a lot yesterday and today, some of your suggestions too, to see what works and what I can actually cook. I'll let you know the final food decision once I've decided. Lots of deliciousness. Thanks again:)
Kval, how was it? I hope he appreciated all your effort x

Sorry Elina I've only just seen this:)
Yes it was lovely thanks, a really a great day, the picnic went well, and he's every bit as super lovely as I at first thought he was. He came to our house paint balling with my brothers on Sunday, and even that didn't see to scare him off so he's coming with me to my step sister's wedding this weekend and then to a fancy dress party we're having this Sunday, so it all looks good so far. Fingers crossed :)
is the spitfire going to be there?
ok, just realised how old this is, sorry!
Question Author
Lol that's okay- I seriously recommend going if you get the chance next year, it was seriously fun and awesome:)
Don't forget "lashings and lashings of ginger beer!" Courtesy of Enid Blyton.
