Maintenance?

A friend of mine recently bought a brand new Toyota Hybrid car I don't know which model 1800cc engine. He got a poor deal (in my opinion) for his trade in car and has paid a lot for his new one. He seems happy with the deal but the dealers have got him paying £ 17 a month " maintenance plan" and have suggested that he should have an additive to his petrol tank yearly to "keep his valves clean" at a cost of £40. Being an old out of date engineer is this rearly neccessary or is it just another con?

A con , the maintenance is part of the warranty, no need to pay extra and the additive is another con. I would report the dealer to Toyota head office.

The maintenance isn't a 'con' - it's effectively a savings scheme to spread the cost of the regular servicing which all cars need. I wouldn't bother with it, but it's perfectly legal and straightforward.

The petrol additive is probably 'snake oil' - I suppose it might just be useful in a hybrid doing only short, urban journeys - where the engine doesn't get much use at high revs. But I suspect it's not really needed.

No, another rip off, you can use Wynn's at £5.00 for every 4th fill up, this product is very good S.O.G. my car is 14year old at every test the C/O is spot on, tell him /her not to bother.

Sunny dave Toyota have a 5 Year comprehensive warranty which includes all servicing , no need for an extra payments, it is a con and Toyota will not be pleased to find out the dealer is trying to extract extra payments.
