Number Plate origination.
I read in the paper this morning, that there is a new website called www.newreg.com where you can find the origination of a no. plate.
Do you know of any other sites which provide this service? (I don't mean Cherished/Private Plates). Thanks.

Not sure about a website to decode the letters, but in the good old days (showing my age) you could tell from the last 2 letters in the block of 3. eg. LNB 333 S - the NB denoted the Manchester area. I had a very old AA handbook which had a list of the codes.
That's still the case in most circumstances. My current registration ties in with the theory.
Hi Billy - I have tried several combinations including that one, but the info given isn't what I'm looking for. They are more for selling & as I already have a cherished no. plate, I don't need another!
Looking back at the origination of all our old no. plates seemed an interesting little project - so I think I'll e-mail the newspaper to find out the proper web-site address for this. That's if there 'really' is one. Other than that, I shall try to locate an old AA book like the one you had.
Thank you so much for your help. :0)
