Error Message

When I switched on my lap top this morning I got the message 'Error 0x80070002. If the error continues ...etc. I have googled this message and without going to much trouble it appears to tell you how to fix it but does not say what it is. Does anyone know what this message refers to? W7 if it makes any difference. Many thanks.

Microsoft offers something you can run which may fix it. Have you tried it ?

Thanks for your swift reply. I closed the error message and as far as I can tell there is no problem. I'm just curious about what it refers to.

This problem occurs when some files in the Windows Update are missing, even though the update is downloaded and extracted successfully, from one of the following locations:

The Microsoft Windows Update Web site
The Microsoft Update Web site
The Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server

The Windows Update may fail, a red X may appear adjacent to the update, with an error code, either:

0x80070002
0x80070003

You may well get the same error message again, because the Windows update failed. The Mr Fixit in OGs post at 08.38 should resolve the problem
