reconfigured it so now all keys work as seen

the comma is on the @ key
Also, holding down the ALT key whilst typing 64 on the number pad to the right (num lock on) will generate @.
kendra, have you read through my link?
reconfigure your keyboard.
//If you want to try out a different keyboard layout to match what you've got it's via Control Panel/Region and Language//......taken from my link
try the number 2 key along the top, it may display " but that is because it is on an American settings keyboard.
If the laptop itself is British you just need to go into control panel and change the location settings to UK.
This link may be of some use to those who wish generate symbols not normally displayed on a keyboard:

thank you all who answered found that if I press shift and 2 the@ comes up problem solved thanks every one
Probably pay you to plug a UK keyboard into a USB socket to use. But you'll need to ensure that it uses the correct driver.
Do as nailit has said and you will Not have to make adaptations to get the signs & symbols to correspond with keys as printed on your keyboard.

Hans.
It does appear to be the case that your Keyboard lay-out is for the UK but quite a few keys are producing other characters to those which are printed on the actual keys. Consequently, unless you do as nailit did, I do not think you will find a £ sign if you should wish to use it.

I am sure that it is possible for you to do a simple re-programming to put matters perfectly correct. It's something which I have done on a few occasions.

What Operating System is in the laptop (Windows Vista; W7. or whatever).?

Hans.
