Rail Or Train?

I've noticed that the words 'Railway Station' seem to have become defunct and the (to my mind uglier) 'Train Station' is ubiquitous on the radio. When and why did this start to happen?

It will always be railway station for me, I still revert to pre-decimal currency when I'm shopping too.

Obiter is incorrect.......not all doors are electronically controlled.
A year or so ago I came to back Kettering on a very rickety late train.
The door had to be opened by sliding down the window and releasing the handle on the outside.
The handle was low down....I am quite short and the train was on a slight tilt. When the catch released the door swung open with me hanging over the window.
I had to be lifted down by a guard.
