I have looked on loads of websites but none say how much they charge for a skip. Has anyone got a rough figure for a skip large enough for clearing old furniture, 3 piece suite, display unit etc etc. Thank you.
sounds like you would want a large one either 8 or 10 yard. Its cheaper if you can store the skip off road ie on the driveway of the property because if its on the road you have to pay the road tax for it for the length of time you have it. If its just for old furniture why don't you try a house clearance firm you probably find one in your yellow pages or free local paper. For a 1yard skip I would expect to pay between 120 and 155
Ring your local council and ask what they charge for taking away large items. We cleared a load of things in Milton Keynes and it was cheaper than hiring a skip.
I live on the edge of London a six yard skip is 160, but the council will take away five large itemsfor 50 quid. So unless it is high density stuff avoid the skip.
I just had a skip while we put a new bathroom in. It cost me 40 for the licence and 159 for up to four weeks for the skip. This is in the London Borough of Haringey
Depending on where you are, some councils send people round at night to make sure you have it covered and it has a light on it.
