What is correct enocoding of mpegs for playback on DVD players?
1 Answers
I seem to have continual problems with playback of mpeg files recorded on my digital camera (at 640 x 480 30fps) - I use TMPGenc to encode and I have managed to get them working before but now my media player says a codec is missing, my discs won't burn properly, overall lots of problems of which I can't seem to pinpoint the source (sneaky suspicion it's SP2 though) - is there a format I should encode into for easier playback - I don't want a VCD either because the quality just deteriorates so much. Shall I try encoding with Mpeg 1?? Any ideas please would be much appreciated!! Many thanks

Your problem may be related to the fps you use, since most standard tv's play at either 25 (PAL/UK) or 29.97(NTSC/USA) or perhaps the size since again, standards are usually 704 x 576 pixels MPEG2 (PAL/UK) or 704 x 480 pixels MPEG2 (NTSC/USA).. Obviously these are changable but for a swift DVD encode I'd recommend TMPGenc Express 3.. never failed me yet..!!
