I seem to have continual problems with playback of mpeg files recorded on my digital camera (at 640 x 480 30fps) - I use TMPGenc to encode and I have managed to get them working before but now my media player says a codec is missing, my discs won't burn properly, overall lots of problems of which I can't seem to pinpoint the source (sneaky suspicion it's SP2 though) - is there a format I should encode into for easier playback - I don't want a VCD either because the quality just deteriorates so much. Shall I try encoding with Mpeg 1?? Any ideas please would be much appreciated!! Many thanks

DVD standard is MPEG-2, so I wouldnt recommend MPEG-1 since its no better than an average VHS tape quality wise.. Your problem may be related to the fps you use, since most standard tv's play at either 25 (PAL/UK) or 29.97(NTSC/USA) or perhaps the size since again, standards are usually 704 x 576 pixels MPEG2 (PAL/UK) or 704 x 480 pixels MPEG2 (NTSC/USA).. Obviously these are changable but for a swift DVD encode I'd recommend TMPGenc Express 3.. never failed me yet..!!
