H O W E V E R, you say it is "quite old" - does it have a USB port which you may need - if not, it might be worth (it might be worth it anyway!) just getting a new PC.
KAZ, I should think that you actually have 64mb RAM. RAM builds up in multiples of 64. So the next step for you is 128Mb (then 256, 512 then 1GB). When you check how much RAM you have it will always be less then it should be (so a 512Mb machine could show 510Mb). So that'll be why your showing 63Mb, but as Postdog says - add another stick of RAM or replace yours, you'll be amazed how much it speeds up!
Got to:
http://www.crucial.com/uk/
/>This will show you what type of RAM will suit your motherboard and I think gives you the option of buying it. (Crucial can be expensive - try http://www.aria.co.uk/ for generic cheaper options)

this is like a "Dummies Guide" for building/upgrading your PC this page is all about RAM so should help.
Hope this helps!!!

KAZ, try the links i've already posted!
The link:
http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/pc-building/fitting/ram/
shows an image of both a memory stick (Module) and the slot on the motherboard it go's in.
Explore that site for info on putting extra RAM in and pretty much anything else!
Also try:
http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/video/mem.avi
This should link to a video of RAM being installed.
If in doubt get find your local PC repair shop and they'll advise and install it for you.
