Suggestions please.

My hallway is looking a bit drab and needs a lick of emulsion but I can't decide on a colour scheme.
It's a narrow hallway with not much light getting in and there is a dado rail part way up and all the doors are white, the floor is beech laminate with brown runners.
Looking for suggestion for colours please above the dado and below.

I know they say that magnolia goes with anything cazz but which other colour would you suggest to go with it?

Where does any light come in?

I'd go for something warm so it doesn't look too cold if it doesn't attract much natural light and warms up the beech - something like a nice cream colour maybe with some uplighters to soften the light. You could always paint below the dado a darker shade to make more of an impact with the cream on top, like a nice warm chocolate brown colour, it will blend up from the floor then. Maybe even a pattern on the brown to drawn the attention upwards to the light, maybe a darker swirly pattern.

Sounds good Jenna. Dulux do one called Malt chocolate and I did wonder about this but thought it might look a bit old fashioned.

The trouble with using a brown similar to the floor on the walls is that it can create a dark,tunnel effect.

There is a white skirting between the beech laminate and the wall so it might not be too bad. I like the duck egg with the brown so will get some tester pots and try them together.

I would have loved to have wallpaper under the dado but my hallway is so narrow it would probably get torn. At least with emulsion I can touch it up when it gets scuffed.

The pale green mixed with the brown colours would give it a real earthy look - perfect for autumn.

I do like cornflour though.
