if you had the money would you go under the knife for what ever you wanted, i say i would but my partner says he wouldn't, is it a male/female thing?

I think a serious phobia of needles shall prevent me from going under knife even if i felt i needed it (lyposuction would be nice right now).

So thats a 'no' for me

it may well be a male/female thing..I would definately have a little 'lift' here & there but my husband has always said he would let nature take it's course.

Maybe he likes the fact that my boobs are looking for pennies in the street ;o)

don't think it's a male/female thing. I'm 35 and would never ever consider it. I'm just not vain enough to risk surgery to improve how I look. Too big a risk, especially now I'm a mum. My partner would certainly never consider it.

I wouldn't have plastic surgery for vanity purposes. My Mum & Grannies got through life without it & I intend to do the same.

A friend of mine has recently had a tummy tuck, upper & lower lip tattoo (which looked odd) & a full face lift. I personally didn't think any of it was necessary, but it was her choice & everyone to their own.

I don't think it's got anything to do with vanity. If you are truly unhappy and have the money, why not?

We live in a society today where we think looks are important, they shouldn't be, but it's worth it if it gives you the confidence you need.

By vanity reasons, I mean as opposed to medical reasons.

If I was unfortunate to have a medical disfigurement which made my life a total misery, then I might have considered it.

As I said - everyone to their own.

I agree with you smudge,my Mum always said she preferred to grow old gracefully as she put it! and that she did and never looked her age;I am told that I look at least 10 years younger than my 67 years so I'm happy to stick with that but there again ---each to his/her own---sometimes it can be a great moral booster if there is a real problem in a particular area and if you can afford it then go for it,freedom of choice and all that!

I am lucky to look younger than I am. Even so, I wouldn't consider surgery to change my face or body. That doesn't mean I particularly like my face or body, just that I accept it. The people I hold dearest to me accept me and care for me as I am. I can't see surgery of any sort making any great difference to my life and, besides, I have too many necessary operations over the years to want to risk surgery for cosmetic reasons. In fact, I had a scar rectification and reshaping done some years ago. It was done on the National Health because I was left with a severely mishapen abdomen after an emergency caesarian went horribly wrong. The repair procedure made things far worse!

I think it's a great shame that people are so conscious of their looks these days.

Of course, if someone needs cosmetic surgery because they have burns or other problems, that I can see that it would make a real difference to their lives.

Thank you for your good wishes kick - I'm getting there, slow but sure. The sun's out at the moment, so I'm off out with my husband soon for a nice long walk.

Like you gessoo, I'm fortunate enough to have my Mum's good genes & look young for my age too.

I can understand why some premature ageing women would want to have plastic surgery to peel back the years ('specially after watching some of the prog's on telly), but it's also what goes on on the inside. If it makes you feel better do it, but the grass isn't always greener on the other side!

I will age disgracefully and would never go under the knife, except for a medical condition which genuinely needed surgery. I hope I will have the grace to feel comfortable with my inner self no matter what the outside bits are doing !
