I have been wondering for years whether the emergency services' siren is in fact a tritone. This is a technical musical term, but I just wondered whether anyone else had heard this fact to, or knew where i could go to get it confirmed or disregarded conclusively. Hope u can help!!

I dont know about tri tone but i once heard sirens and the old fashioned phone ring were in 4/3 timing because this is a particularly unpleasant time signature to the human ear and therefore difficult to ignore.
This sort of fits in to your tritone theory - so it would make sense i suppose.
