Vet Fees

I dropped my dog off at the vets this morning for a small operation and she will be having a general anaesthetic. The nurse brought out the consent form and proceeded to tell me that a saline drip was optional and would cost £44.00!! Of course i chose this option(after i picked my jaw up off the floor)as it is the safest thing for my dog but shouldn't this have been in with the price which is £100 to start off with? Saline is a pretty standard part of the operation preperation don't you think?!

It started when people became allowed to buy prescription medicines from other suppliers. They list the cost of everything down to needles and sutures. If your pet is having a GA then I think that £100 is peanuts actually when you take into account what that means in terms of staffing, and facilities. I guess that they are trying to keep the care affordable for people who can go to 100 quid but can't stretch to 140.
