I have mentioned this to the Health Visitor - she says its normal but shes not having to listen to it almost every night. My baby (4 weeks old) snorts a lot, gurgles, snores, sounds totally bunged up - this variety of sounds can go on for quite a while and to my ears, seems very loud. Has anyone else experienced this. I keep worrying he is going to choke or stop breathing.

You're doing the normal paranoid parent thing.... baby is fine... they are normal noises that some babies make. its another baby version of snoring.

Be thankful... my youngest farted through the night like a 20 stone man when he was small!

my 3 all used to make there own little noises used to find them cute, one of them some nights snored louder than there dad, if they were a bit snuffly i used to raise the head end of the crib slightly, and keep a cup of water on top of the raidiator if heating is on to keep air moist. hope this helps we all worry about our little ones no matter how many we have.
my 5 week old sounds really conjested all the time. The dr said it was normal for newborns to make a ton of noises. I did move the baby to her crib at 4 weeks and I seem to sleep sounder in between feedings. I also hear her "real cries" when she is hungry and not the little noises as much.
My little 2 day old daughter is snorting and snuffling herself silly just as all her brothers and sister did before her, it's all quite normal, but if you are really worried have a quick nip to the Drs just to make sure there isn't a chest infection or anything and to put your mind at rest, but 99% sure it's fine. Our little one snuffles like a truffle hunting pig, so your not alone in lying there listening all night. :)
my nephew whos almost 1 snores so loud that sometimes he wakes himself up we where worried at first but know its the norn unless he's fallen asleep and we are tring to watch the TV and we cant hear a thing and then he gets pushed into the hall

Its perfectly normal, we've had to move our 4 month old into his own room as I cannot put up with the noise anymore as he snuffles, snores, farts & sighs his way through the night.

We are using a monitor between the rooms, at 1st at full volume, but that was just as bad, so have now turned it down so we can hear the cries & moans not the other noises.

I laughed at noxlumos post as we nicked-named our baby the truffle snuffler when he 1st came home from hospital!

my answers the same as all the above, dont worry about it! when my son was born he snored as bad as his mother!!!!
