equifax telephone number

i am trying to contact Equifax, to find out why my credit report has not arrived within the 7 working days they say would be the case on their website. the only number i seem to get is an automated line where you can order the thing, and send a cheque. i need a hard copy rather than an internet one.Does anyone know if there is a line i can call to speak to a person!, without having to purchase something else from Equifax?.

I got my credit report free online from Equifax

At this time of year you simply cannot rely on the post.

I seem to remember hearing/ reading somewhere that the very fact that you have requested a credit report can count against you - because financial institutions etc , checking your credit history may see this as , you being ' worried ' about a possible bad credit history

Or am I imagining it ?

Bazile - I don't know whether you are imagining it or not but you are wrong. A search conducted by you on yourself doesn't show up on future reports.
