I am thinking about going to see the British film Pride tonight, about the LGBT's association with the miners duing the 1980's strikes.
Has anyone seen this yet? is it worth a view? and more importantly doe si have a happy ending? (can't cope with sad films at the moment)
TIAx
.
Go and see
Good reviews - but its a social construct
Living during that time - I dont recollect the gays rising up and defeating the govt over the mining issue
However - not part of the film I think - contemporaneously Private Eye carried reports that someone in the mining negotiators and someone on the govt negotiating team - well you know.... kissed.
Many thanks, i think that we have decided to go and see it, i am just not very good at surprises and like to know what happens in a film before i see it. (strange i know) Wikipedia is very good at this, but it doens't give the full plot. - have had a couple of bad experiences at films when i have not known the ending or what happens. - i even read the last page of books first.
Went to see it last night - an absolutley brilliant film, throughly enjoyed it Imelda Staunton was the best i have ever seen her, just fantastic. It was a little sad mainly at the way that 'the Gays' were treated at the time in MY lifetime found that quite hard, but if you get the chance please see it!
