Dying Platinum Blonde A Darker Blonde?

I have platinum blonde hair but I want to dye my hair a darker blonde. I usually use Live XXL max blonde but I have found a Garnier hair colour called ash blonde which seems like the type of warmer blonde that I'm looking for. However I'm worried that it might have unexpected results and I don't want to end up looking ginger! Does anyone know whether this is a good idea? Help is very much appreciated :)

I've gone darker blonde from platinum in the past. I always do a strand test though.

My advice would be to go the a hairdresser and have it done properly.

dreaded patch test -cut some hair from where you wont notice it - I'd be more worried that it might damage the structure of the hair make it break off etc.amount of peroxide in each dye etc
Also ash blonde is a cool colour ie has blue tones not giving warmth.

I don't think ash blonde is a warm colour, it's more grey (like ash)

I was blonde many years ago -self dyed and wanted to return to a more natural colour (I was a light mousy brown) I went to a professional and they initially put a red dye one my hair to stop it going green, they then used a light ash blonde dye on my hair. It came out a conker brown with reddish lights. Over a period it faded to more or less my natural colour, which the stylist described as light ash blonde. I am not sure wether the colour you use has any bleach in it but if it has I would take some professional advice.

I know home colours have improved but agree with those who say go to a hairdresser. Many years ago I ended up a charcoal greenish shade.

Thanks or your responses :) I'm a bit of a cheapskate so wanted to do it myself but I will have to deal with the consequences if it goes wrong. I suppose "warm" was the wrong word to use, I just want a colour that's less brassy.

Why not use a toner then instead?

I usually get my dyes and toners on eBay because you have a ridiculously large choice :)
