Good luck to all our ABers and the Scots at large with the referendum today and that Scottish families and society at large unify around whatever the result is - and move on without incident or dissension. Otherwise, democracy has paid a large price.

Thomas More in 'Light of the Harem' wrote, "Alas! how light a cause may move Dissension between hearts that love! Hearts that the world in vain had tried, And sorrow but more closely tied; That stood the storm when waves were rough, Yet in a sunny hour fall off."

I hope that we quickly see unified families and a nation rising out of the ashes of this vote. Others want to join me in wishing our colleagues the best for today and in going forward as the Scotland most of us cherish?

Let's hope you get the right result for Scotland, and it doesn't get hijocked along the way!

I have been very saddened by some of the anti Scottish comments on AB. thanks to the media coverage ( bbc, daily mail ) especially , English people do believe the scots hate them. WE DONT . nor were we voting for alex salmond and the snp. nor will we be a divided country whatever the outcome.
Doesn't it mean 97% of the people who are 'eligible'' to vote have done so?
puzzlemaniac, I can't be bothered I'd rather you post a few links to this 'anti jock' sentiment.
Agree Anne, we come to Edinburgh to see our kids every month and we are always made welcome and to feel like part of the community. I love the Scots and don;t want to lose them :o(
I hope they have thought hard about what the split will mean to the rest of the UK too, not just in financial terms but as brothers at arms.
There will be no split.
ayg, give the voters some credit, we're not that stupid not to '' think'' about our decision. yes or no.
"I love the Scots and don't want to lose them"

Dearie me! An independent Scotland wouldn't "pull up the drawbridge"! Where does this nonsense come from?
talbot, your response just sums it all up
It comes from Me jeffa, It's how I feel, sentimental I know.
It was only a jock...oops joke, Puzzle.

Congratulations on making the right decision btw.
Jeffa not so much a drawbridge, Scotland would not be part of the union with the rest of the UK, there will be no turning back if the Yes votes win. Some of them may really think about it and not be co-erced into voting Yes by their close families and friends. Foreign workers living there and young people of 16/17 years old deciding how they want to live in future, do they seriously know what it all means to them, and do they believe all that Salmond and Sturgeon have been telling them.

AYG, yes indeed, but that's hardly going to stop people visiting their grandchildren in Edinburgh, is it!
I would have thought something as important to the nation as this, they would register their vote.
