As an aside, I sincerely wonder if Australian citizens are now concerned that since nearly all of their firearms were confiscated in 1996 they now, in this emergency, have no way of protecting themselves...

Clanad, you might remember the case where a group of young Muslim men were at an amusement park and took videos of their day out. These were subsequently offered as 'evidence' that an attack was being planned.
How did that case go? Do you know?

Sandy, there have been a number of cases recently such as you describe. So far most are still "in the system"... i.e., being investigated.

Most recently a young Muslim (male, of course) was arrested in Minneapolis, Minnesota for recruting enlistees for ISIS. Several of the most recent ISIS members that were confirmed killed in Iraq and elsewhere came from the same Muslim school in Minneapolis/St. Paul (know as the Twin Cities). All were immigrants, many from Somali and initially sponsored to come here by the Lutheran Society. I'm hoping they're rethinking their sponsorship programs.
