Not yet - haven't even looked except to check the setter (not Araucaria - groan)!

Maybe later thanks.

Yes I share your dismay Dzug - since the demise of Custos and Crispa, Auracaria is the only setter I can get on with. I have great difficulty with Paul, even having bought "Secrets of the Setters"!

I like Paul! I think his 3 down today is a great clue. But I am stuck on the last corner - 23 across Half-cut thuggery in possession of Kennedy perhaps (6) ?I?L?? and 21 down Bird cam over on three tails (4) E???

Can you help, kayakamina?

fao Argee - 23a. viol(ence)in. Nigel Kennedy = violinist.
The bird one is erne I think - last letters (tails) of middle words of clue

Sorry Argee Grandchildren came round and I've only just seen your message.

23a Violin 21d Erne

Cheers

No problem, kayakamina, I have only just logged back on myself. Thank you Dinkypuzzled and dzug,I thought of Nigel Kennedy but could not see the answer.

I have flashy for 22 across but it does not seem quite right - f=loud, lash=whip, sh=keep quiet, flashy=loud?

Question Author

Hi Argee

I've got Flashy as well. Gaudy, Flashy Loud

Whip is FLAY, not LASH - with SH in the middle
