If you purchase an item - not very expensive - but no good to you - do you bother return it.

nope. But I have on occasions resold items that do not fit/not appropriate though

I understand that grasscarp but if the item you judged/purchased was too small and you only found out by trying it on.

I have returned items to amazon but if something was really cheap then I wouldn't bother. I'd either give it away or donate it to a charity shop. Amazon are very good about returned items. They don't quibble about it

It depends where you set the "not very expensive" threshold. Anything under £10, no.

I bought a multi purpose grill, brand new for £25.00. It arrived yesterday and I discovered that one of the features I bought it for isn't actually there (adjustable thermostat), it say on the box it is and on the pathetic instruction leaflet, but there is definitely not one!

If I send it back (to eBay) it will cost quite a bit as I have to pay return postage and it's heavy.

I will still use it as it more useful that the first generation George Foreman grill we have which is blooming enormous and hard to clean.

Its the Quest Multi-Function grill 1200 watt in case anyone else would like to save themselves from making the mistake I did :)

It depends who you bought it off, some private sellers don't offer refunds if items don't fit (I certainly wouldn't) You just need to sell it on to someone else.

I bought some boots on ebay that were blue in photo but black in reality. Resold them on eBay.

Daffy - your grill isn't fit for purpose or "as described", so the retailer should pay the return postage.

I have contacted the person who is the sole importer and distributer of the appliance, but unsurprisingly have had no acknowledgement from them that anything will be done about it, even though I informed them that the packaging and description is actually breaking the law.

Open a case in the resolution centre daffy. If it's not as advertised, the seller should reimburse your return postage costs or provide postage paid return labels.

As I said before FrogNog, i'm not that bothered as I will still be using it, plus I already recycled the packaging.
