Got the three youngest grandchildren ( 2 x 8 and 1 x 12) to stay from last night until tomorrow night. Made a picnic and set of for New bridge Farm park just after Much Marcle, about 25 miles. When we got there I found it closed for the season on September 6th. So drove about 20 miles to Dick Whittington farm park near Longhope. Thankfully that was open. They had a good 3 hours there. I was very surprised they have now stopped charging for adults to go in, I always thought this was wrong so that was good.
The children were so good and well mannered and no niggles at all. It's only when the older two are with them we have arguments. So I suppose tomorrow evening will be a bit fraught when the older two come for dinner!
But all in a good cause to give parents a well deserved break.
At dinner tonight one of the twins suddenly said, " Nana do you know what the Romans used for toilet paper before it was invented" I admitted I didn't so she told me. "They use a sponge on a stick dunked in water"
I was really grateful for that bit of information!

Why, pray tell me do you feel obliged to drive the little darlings all over the realm? Just plop them in a corner of the room with a coloring book, some crayons, a bag of crisps, a bottle of cider, and tell them, in no uncertain terms, not to interrupt their esteemed elders:)
