Retrochic......you are "bang on the money"......2 glasses of wine with my evening meal maximum and perhaps a whisky whilst watching TV.

Of course, there are people in the Mediterranean who are, by any definition, alcohol dependents, but from my experience, wine is consumed from an early age and is part of the culture......moderation and usually with a glass of water......no I was not kidding.
If you drink 3 bottles of wine over the weekend, but nothing during the week, is that better for you than drinking a few glasses every evening with your meal?
baldric you should get best answer for that. i am totally sick of so called 'experts' telling me whats good and not good for me especially as they change their mind every few years. In the 50's they were saying we should feed children fat and sugar to help them grow, then it was fat free diets, then fat is good for you, then its not, then it is, then doctors say a glass or two of wine a day actually reduces heart disease and now they are going to give you a pill to stop you wanting two glasses of wine a day. Everything in moderation coupled with good nutrition and exercise is the key to a happy life, in my opinion.
Sqadlogies, I thought you meant they mixed the wine with water, that's only for babies isn't it? lol!
LOL........^^
'Sqadiologies ' my keyboard has created a new word ;-)
"A glass of wine or two a day" years ago would have been a 125ml glass of something that was 9 or 10% alcohol. You can`t even get a 125ml glass of wine in a pub - it`s 175 or 250. Have a few of those and you`ve consumed a bottle of wine and if it`s red, it`s going to be 13 or 14% alcohol.
The definition of an alcoholic which I like is " someone who drinks more than their doctor ". ;-)
237SJ you are now going off on a tangent. The new guidelines are HALF A BOTTLE -it does not matter how big the glasses are, half a bottle is 350 ml two 175 ml glasses of wine on one ruddy great big one it makes no difference how big the glasses are. The average bottle of red contains 12.5% vol.
Whos making this tablet and who making from it Eh ?
The bit, well two bits, that I don't understand is that if you aren't an alcoholic, which this pill is not designed for, and you decide to drink less, why don't you just drink less? Surely while you are deciding to take the pill, you can decide not to have the next drink? The other thing is that it says that it stops you enjoying a drink. I am not sure what they mean by that? does it change the flavour? stop you getting drunk or what?
I would think it would need a lot of self discipline to take it because it should be taken in advance. That might work for someone who likes a couple of drinks before dinner and doesn`t know how to stop but it won`t do much to help the spur of the moment night out on the way home from work. http://www.patient.co.uk/medicine/nalmefene-tablets-selincro
Yes really Retro. I personally know some that have. Maybe they were on a bit more than half a bottle a day but the same process is at work.
