plywood floor cutting

I am going to fasten a sheet of plywood over my bathroom floor before having a vinyl surface laid.

How do I accurately cut out the shape of the wc and wash basin pedestal? Do I try and make a paper template?

I don't have a better idea than a brown paper template - it has worked for me.

If you already have a carpet or something down, take it up and there is your template.
