Is it bad to keep taking 2 packs of the pill in a row to miss a period? Is there only a certain number of times you should do this a year?

In theory there is no reason why you shouldn't just keep taking the pill. The break and fake "period" is only really for show, it has no purpose. Most women like to have this "period" even though it is not one. But I am not sure about taking it all the time, depending on the pill you have. I tried going straight to another pack and just got weird bleeding half way through the second pack!
There is a reason, and thats exactly why its recommended not to take more than 2 in a row. I was stupid and took 3 packs in a row just because I was not wanting my period. After finishing my third I was so ill, I dont usually get stomach aches but I was in so much pain and feeling dizzy and sick. Wasnt good, makes you feel awful and you are bleeding for much longer than normal.
i have just been told by my dr that you can take 3 packs in a row and then have the week break. she said there are pills coming out soon that will stop your periods all together!
See I like that fact that I do get a period to know my bodies all working ok. These injections you get where you never have one are weird, and how would you know if you were preggars. I think the body shouldnt be messed with. We ovulate for a reason.
Although I did solve the problem of not having to take two packs in a row and have worked my pills so I'm only ever on through the week and not at weekends :-)
My doctor advised me always to take 3 packs in a row and have a period at the end of these as I suffer from terrible headaches during my period which no tablets seemed to help, so the easiest thing is to just avoid having a period so the headaches are less frequent. I have no ill feelings or bleeding for longer than usual and I have been doing this for about 3 years now.
I have also been told by my dr that there is nothing wrong with taking more than 2 in a row
I guess it all depends what pill you're on. :-) Should say in leaflet :-)
I had an operation for endometriosis 2 years ago and the consultant advised me to take the pill continuously for 3 months before haveing a weeks break. She said there is no harm whatsoever in doing this no matter what pill you're on. I have no problems at all and much prefer it.
I agree with Scarlett as far as I understood, the 'period' you have on your pill free week, isn't really a normal period anyway. It's just women feel more comfortable having one. As for you shouldn't mess with your body, well are you not doing that anyway taking the pill in the first place?
Just got back from docs and having my pill check so I thought Id ask. Is ok to take 3 packs in a row but you may experience side effects such as dizziness and headaches. :-)

Thanks for all the answers guys, i feel relieved now! Thanks 4getmenot for checking with your doc aswell! I can go away for the weekend now without the added hassle! :)
If you dont want to be on at a weekend any more. Take your first pill on a Friday, that makes the last one a Thursday and then you come on on the Monday, all week to bleed and weekend free. :-)
