I accidently turned off my freezer at the socket..wrong plug. My food defrosted so I cooked as much as possible but there's still defrosted uncooked food left, about a black bag full. I didn't like to ask the neighbours to cook the food as I've only been in my new house for 2 week. It won't all fit in the council food waste bin. Any suggestions tia.
Methyl it was turned of for 2 days, the frozen chickens 2 smelled awful so I wrapped them well and out them in the food waste bin outside. Things like fishcakes, fish in batter etc and roast potatoes I cooked and veg. I freeze my milk but that was rancid. ZM, it's a bit late to ask my neighbours now but a good suggestion.AlwaysCon,thanks for the link!
Ring the council, tell them you've had a disaster and ask for help carting away the remaining stuff. It's as much an immediate health hazard as food dumped in a backstreet by a restaurant.
Keep a record of any fee they demand and put it on your insurance claim.
I had same problem. Found the garage chest freezer had been switched off. put some contents into black bag rubbish collection over some weeks and gave away freezer. Now dont have a freezer at all and have lived without one for quite a while.
