If in an attack you had the option to destory one to save the other would you save the castle or the city it rules over?

Is it a fairy castle?
There's a castle in my city.. I'd destroy the castle in event of attack, but then our city's been attacked many times and the castle still stands

i can't save both my forces can make it to one and defend it and i can destory the other but which would be the moral choice. The castle has stood for hundreds of years and the city built up around it.
The castle- assuming it's got royalty inside, which you'd need, along with it's coffers to rebuild the city afterwards.
Could this question be a veiled reference to Newcastle United or Manchester City?
