Recently I've been severely constipated and can never finish off my visit to the bog. I was thinking about buying laxatives to encourage my passengers to depart the station. Are they safe? Do they have any side effects? Or can anyone recommend ways to help relieve my constipation.

Ive always found bran flakes to be a very effective bowel club bouncer. They in my experience appear to be able to evict even the troublsome bum lodgers!!
if you're worried about taking laxatives you could try increasing the fibre in your diet. prune juice, orange juice, cereals, etc (some say strong black coffee works). the next stage would be a herbal laxative if you don't want to take one that is medical.

increasing your water intake would also be wise advice.
The odd laxative every now & then will do no harm.

It's not as if it's a class a drug like crack!

Senekot is very good.

Changing my diet seems too much like hard work. Think I'll go for the easy way out and take some Senokot. Thanks for your help folks; once my bowels are empty, I'll send you a gift as a thank you...
Maybe try my ex wifes cooking,In some ways she was a bit like jesus, she could turn any type of food into what your missing.
your thanks is enough, I really don't need a gift ;o)
When I was a lad my parents could'nt afford laxatives so they sat me on the pottie and told me GHOST stories !!
Get some Movicol. you can only get it on presdription, so a visit to you gp would be called for, but it'd do the trick.

We give it to our severely contipated daughter, and it works.
Hi Johnny7,

Other than senakot, which can cause immense stomach cramping.... a natural form is Linseed Oil and a tbsp of that will get you moving lol

I see you say changing your diet is too much like hard work???? errrrr why????

Johnny,

I just had a thought, (as someone is giving me the sh1ts on CB) that Metameucil is the best.

The orange flavour is nice & it really does work.
I went to my Doc and he gave me a very gentle laxative which tastes like very sugary syrup. Nice! And it softens stools rather than acts as an evacuation tool! Ask for that!
last week i had 3 big pots of prunes and 1 tin .it helped me lol
Ten pints of scrumpy jack always does it for me Johny
Could always try the ole' fingerhook!!!

Lactulose syrup is very good and quite cheap over the counter.

I find strong coffee is also good. I suffer from IBS and have to say a venti fairtrade from Starbucks in the morning is pretty good at keeping things processing.

Any change of bowel habit, unless very temporary, should be reported to your doctor so if it continues past a couple of days without obvious cause then make sure you check it out with them.
Safest, most convenient method - Fleet enema or dulcolax suppository. Doesnt affect the upper digestive system - empties the ***-hole in 10 to 30 minutes.
