I have had a leaflet pushed through the door for weather proofing for the house. It seems to be a weatherproof coating that is applied. We need the pointing doing on the upper level of our house and we have some damp in the corners in the bedrooms - would it be better/cheaper to repoint the house or have this stuff applied? Is it a con/prohibitively expensive? Their site is http://www.wallcoatingsuk.co.uk/ Thanks as always!

A builder friend tells me that, if you waterproof the outside of bricks, you will get damp patches indoors because the condensation etc won't get drawn through the bricks as it should be. So I would get the repointing done and leave the surface of the bricks alone.

Thanks - that is really helpful. They have just phoned me actually and I got the full sales pitch - I am deeply suspicious!
If it was that fabulous, they wouldn't need to pursuade you with a leaflet / sales pitch would they?

Very true - reminds me of the three hour conservatory pitch that ended with my toddler screaming 'make him go home' and a quote for a tiny conservatory of over 22k! (Others had quoted approx 7k!)
Sorry off the point a bit but I had a conservatory sales phone call the other day. I told him I had one fitted about 3 years ago (which is true), end of conversation right, no, "Is it wood" yes it is wood "do you want a PVC one they are much better". I politely said "I know your just doing your job, I'm putting the phone down now, good bye" he was still talking as the phone was put down
Sorry to go off topic like gilf but I read a book a couple of years ago (can't remember title or author) in which one of the characters was a terminally bored retired military officer whose favourite relaxation was annoying telemarketers into hanging up on HIM! Loved it!
