I am a 30 year old male and I have been drinking far too much in recent months and I have been experiencing pains around the area of my kidneys. I have decided to make some serious changes but should I be getting checked out by the doctor?

Yes. Go today. Cut down on the booze. Dance more. Take 200mcg of Selenium each day. Get a pet that loikes being stroked. ANyone want to add to this list of bare necessities?
If you go tee total for a few weeks and detox the pain should go away. If you are drinking due to depression or mental anguish and feel you may have come dependant I would suggest going to your GP anyway.

woh, if you are drinking a lot your body will have got used to the alcohol and you may suffer withdrawal symptons which can be very severe. Talk to your doctor and s/he will advise you but personally I would NOT go cold turkey. My ex is a recovering alcoholic and did a detox through North East Essex Drugs and Alcohol Support. They are fantastic and there is probably a similar setup in your area. Best thing he ever did. He did one week on a large amount of medication which tricks the body into thinking it is getting alcohol = no withdrawal symptoms. Obviously I don't know if this would be necessary for you, but the first step is to see your GP.

Definately see your doc,but give yourself a pat on the back for wanting to do something about it,good 4 u,good luck!
you could also try taking milkthiste its very good for the liver especially after drinking while you have pain in your kidneys try and drink lots to flush them out. good luck with the changes x
